This 150ml gaiwan is crafted using traditional wood-firing (Chai Burn) techniques at temperatures above 1300°C. During the firing process, natural ash falls onto the surface and melts into the glaze, creating organic, unrepeatable patterns. No two pieces are identical.
The body features a raised koi fish relief with metallic gold detailing, symbolizing prosperity, strength, and flow. The glaze transitions from warm clay tones to soft ash blush variations, giving the piece depth and movement. The lid is gently domed with a compact knob for comfortable handling during gongfu brewing.
Wood firing requires days of continuous kiln work, where flame, ash, and minerals interact directly with the clay. The result is a textured, naturally variegated surface with subtle tonal shifts and a refined, earthy character.
