Natural Guohua Stone: A Unique Landscape in Every Piece

The defining feature of this tea tray is its natural Guohua Stone (Chinese Painting Stone), an ornamental stone recognised for intricate mineral formations that resemble traditional Chinese landscape paintings.

These patterns develop through natural geological processes, as minerals accumulate within fractures and pores of the stone. The resulting compositions evoke mountains, rivers, forests, and abstract landscapes, with colours ranging from charcoal grey and black to warm beige and earthy brown.

Each stone panel is individually cut and polished to reveal its natural character. Because the patterns are formed by nature, no two tea trays are identical.

The ēsho Gong Fu Tea Tray is designed to support this brewing method, providing ample space for a complete Chinese tea set and an integrated drainage system for managing excess water.

During a tea ceremony, water is commonly used to warm the teapot and cups, rinse teaware, and prepare successive infusions. The tray's recessed water channel collects excess water and directs it towards a discreet drainage outlet.

A copper drainage fitting allows a tube to be connected, directing used water into a separate collection container.

The functional layout makes the tray suitable for extended brewing sessions, tea tastings, and gatherings where several guests are served.

Natural Stone Variations

Every tea tray features natural Guohua Stone, meaning that the mineral patterns, colours, veins, and surface markings vary from piece to piece.

Natural weathering lines, variations in texture, and differences in colour are inherent characteristics of the stone and do not constitute manufacturing defects.

Due to manual cutting and finishing, dimensions may vary by approximately 1–2 cm.

Product photographs are representative. The natural stone pattern of the delivered tray will be unique.

Care Instructions

After each tea session, wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth and remove any remaining water.

Keep the drainage channel and outlet clear, and allow the tray to dry between uses. Avoid abrasive cleaning products, harsh chemicals, and sudden temperature changes.
