Jianliu Pear-Shaped Handmade Yixing Purple Clay Teapot, 100 ml

Crafted from unglazed purple clay, this 100 ml teapot follows the traditional pear-shaped form, distinguished by its rounded body, gently narrowing shoulders and compact proportions.

The design is finished with a Jianliu, or “sword,” spout, a slender tapered spout traditionally used across several Chinese teapot forms. Together with the curved loop handle, domed lid and round lid knob, it gives the teapot its characteristic classical profile.

Its compact capacity is particularly suited to Gongfu tea brewing, allowing tea to be prepared in small, concentrated infusions. The rounded body provides space for the leaves to expand while retaining heat effectively during successive brews.

The unglazed clay develops naturally through repeated use as tea oils interact with its surface. For this reason, clay teapots of this type are commonly used for oolong, pu-erh and black teas.

Each piece may show subtle variations in surface texture and clay tone as part of the natural character of the material.
